Healthy Families Coach

Valley Primary Health Organization is a dynamic and innovative organization that plans, funds and provides a wide range of primary care health services to 80,000 people living in the Hutt Valley.
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the PHO as part of the Health Promotion Team.

This position will work with referred individuals in their homes and communities using a Whanau centred approach. This position will provide appropriate physical activity programmes, motivation and support to individual's and their whanau to enable them to have the skills to make positive lifestyle change to reduce the risk and impact of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other chronic conditions.
The ideal applicant for the role will require:

  • Recent experience in fitness or other related field
  • A sound knowledge of promotion of physical activity, and healthy lifestyles
  • Experience in working in community and family settings with high needs groups
  • Excellent administrative and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of exercise prescription and chronic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease would be an advantage

This is a fixed term position until June 2011.
