Fitness Operations Manager

Looking for a new and exciting senior role within the fitness industry?
The YMCA is looking to appoint an experienced, passionate and results-driven individual to drive the Y-Fitness brand across our centres.

Y-Fitness, the health and fitness division of YMCA Auckland, currently operates nine Y-Fitness clubs across Auckland and Hamilton, and provides a quality fitness experience at affordable rates. In 2009 we won four categories at the national fitness awards and continually strive to improve the standards and service within our facilities.
Reporting to the General Manager Fitness and Training, we are seeking a full-time Fitness Operations Manager, whose key focus will be to drive Y-Fitness in a leadership role, and support our centres to improve profitability; achieve or exceed budgeted membership growth; increase participation and customer satisfaction; whilst still following our community ethos and YMCA values.

The position will include overseeing the programmes and services that we offer, monitoring fitness financials and tracking results, as well as managing the Member Services Manager who will be responsible for membership sales and retention processes and member communication. In addition under the direction of the General Manager, this role will oversee the annual budget and business planning process relating to fitness and support the General Manager with initiatives to generate new business.

You will have a minimum of three years experience managing a fitness club including hands on experience in sales, budgeting and business planning. Experience in managing personal training and group exercise programmes would be advantageous.

You will hold a tertiary level fitness qualification, be REPs registered to level two or above and have a working knowledge and overall understanding of the fitness industry.

You will possess strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others, be action orientated, and thrive on delivery of results. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have the ability to build a rapport with others quickly. A high level of attention to detail and exceptional organisation skills are essential.
