Director Sport and Recreation

Can you retain a strategic focus whilst delivering on initiatives to enhance the campus experience through sport and recreation?

Strategic and Innovative Focus

The University of Auckland is New Zealand's pre-eminent research-led University and ranked in the top one percent of universities in the world. It is a large and complex organisation catering to a cosmopolitan student body of nearly 40,000, with 6,000 academic and general staff.

Reporting to the Director of Campus Life, you will lead a small team to enhance the campus experience by further developing the range, depth and quality of sport and recreation opportunities for students, staff, alumni and community members. A high level University Sport Strategy has been agreed. You will refine and implement to ensure it delivers significant and tangible value.

You will bring leadership experience, active networks and understanding of structures of the wider sport sector in New Zealand. An astute and strategic relationship builder, you will demonstrate the credibility to establish collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, providers and funders. You will have an ability to develop successful and constructive relationships in a complex stakeholder environment; and the ability to influence and engage a diverse and discerning community.

Your ability to retain a strategic focus whilst delivering on initiatives which continue to develop the campus experience through sport and recreation will be an important asset. You will be motivated by the opportunity to encourage participation, competition and life long connection with the University.
